2024  COYOTE HUNT RULES AND REGULATIONS

PLEASE NOTE SOME CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE COYOTE HUNT RULES AND REGULATIONS

 HUNT  ON   FEBRUARY 16 - 18, 2024

 

Registrations in person at the garage 

Noon to 4:00 p.m.

November 11th & 12th, 2023

December 2nd & 3rd, 9th & 10th, 2023

january 6th & 7th, 20th & 21st, 2024

February 3rd & 4th, 10th & 11th, 2024

February 15th, 2024  noon - 11:59 PM

 

 

 1. No registrations will be taken during the hunt.  The hunt will officially begin at  12:01 AM., Friday, February 16, 2024 and will end at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2024.

 

2. Registration Fee will be $12.00, of which $8.00 will go toward cash prizes to successful hunters, $2.00 toward administration costs. tHE OTHER $2.00 WILL BE FULLY PAID OUT FOR THE HEAVIEST FEMALE.

 

3. Each participant must be registered for this hunt.  When hunting in groups, each member of the group  must be registered, or the  entire group will be disqualified.  Any club member  can register other members at the club's scheduled in-person registrations by presenting absent member's current (2023) membership card and the $12.00 registration Fee.

 

4. Each participant must be a current (2024) member of the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen's Association.  Membership applications may be made at the same time as the Coyote Hunt registrations.

 

5. Coyotes must be killed during the days and times of the scheduled hunt in pa only.

 

6. Participants must possess  a valid hunting license or fur-taker license and id.  Participant's said license will be checked when they bring in a coyote to be weighed.  Please be sure to bring your hunting license and drivers license, or you will be disqualified!

 

7. During the scheduled Coyote Hunt, coyotes may be hunted and harvested in any county in Pennsylvania only!!!

 

8. Calls and dogs may be used during the hunt, HOWEVER EACH HUNTER WILL BE ALLOWED TO REGISTER ONLY THREE COYOTES.  The first three tagged coyotes will be the ones to be counted. EACH HUNTER MUST REGISTER HIS/HER COYOTE(S)  KILLED IN PERSON.

 

9. The Mosquito Creek Sportsmen's Association reserves the right to have an autopsy performed on any animal presented at the hunt if it is believed the animal was penned, trapped or taken illegally. Several wildlife biologists and a veterinarian will be available to enforce this regulation.  ALL ANIMALS WILL BE TAGGED THRough THE BACK LEG.

 

10. Mosquito Creek Sportsmen's Association reserves the right to polygraph any registered hunter. HUNTERS UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT BY REGISTERING AND PARTICIPATING IN THE HUNT, THEY AGREE TO UNDERGO POLYGRAPH TESTING IF REQUESTED BY THE ASSOCIATION.  Polygraph questions will be limited to those necessary to assure the accuracy of the results and tHe registrant's entitlement to prize money.  refusal to submit to and fully cooperate in the administration of a polygraph test shall result in the automatic disqualification of the registrant.  Any hunter who fails the polygraph test will be permanently disqualified from this hunt and all future coyote hunts.  Said hunter's mosquito creek sportsmen's club membership will also be revoked for life.  Polygraph examinations will be held at mosquito creek sportsmen's club on sunday, february 18th at 4:00 pm following the hunt.  if for any reason a hunter fails to cooperate with msca in the administration of the polygraph examination they will be suspended from the hunt for a period of at least one year, but not to exceed three years, pending a board decision.

 

11. Any violation of the Pennsylvania Game Laws and rules of this hunt will result in that person or group being disqualified from the hunt and suspended from the club.

 

12. on sunday at 3:00 p.m. sharp the first, second, third and fourth please finishers must be present at the end of the hunt for polygraph.  also the first and second place finishers for the largest female must be present for polygraph or you will be disqualified.

 

13. The DEADLINE FOR WEIGH-INS IS 2:00 PM  ON SUNDAY FEBRUARY  18, 2024.

 

14. Each hunter is responsible for the disposal of his/her coyote carcass. Any coyote(s) left on club premises will be subject to a $50.00 disposal fee per coyote. The fee will be deducted from said person's prize money.

 

15. The Prize Money WILL BE DIVIDED IN TWO EQUAL PARTS.  ONE PART WILL BE AWARDED IN EQUAL SHARES TO THOSE HUNTERS WHO PRESENT QUALIFYING COYOTES.  tHE OTHER PART WILL BE AWARDED AS TO PRIZE MONEY AND AWARDED FOR THE TOP THREE COYOTES IN WEIGHT, TO BE DIVIDED AS FOLLOWS:  1ST PRIZE - 50% OF THE TOP PRIZE MONEY, 2ND PRIZE - 30% OF THE TOP PRIZE MONEY, AND 3RD PLACE - 20% OF THE TOP PRIZE MONEY.  THE PRIZE FOR THE HEAVIEST FEMALE COYOTES IS 100% OF THE TOTAL REGISTRATION FEES PAID TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FEMALE COYOTE CONTEST.  ANY TIES WILL RESULT IN EVEN SPLIT. 

 

16. All prize money will be awarded after official results have been determined. Prize money will be awarded by check upon verification of the contestant's entitlement, checks will be issued in approximately 2-3 weeks.  The IRS Form W-9 will be mailed in january 2025.

 

COYOTE REGISTRATIONS WILL ONLY BE ON THE SPECIFIED DATES ABOVE.

 

YOU MAY ALSO REGISTER BY MAIL, please include a self-addressed envelope postmarked by JANUARY 9, 2024  - one check can be written for registration and membership

 

ABSOLUTELY NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE TAKEN AFTER THE BEGINNING OF THE HUNT!!!
